"Summer (In) Sight"
Andrea Jenkins & Emily Brown, Artists
Opening Reception Saturday, Sep. 4, 4-6 pm

This exhibition showcases new works by artists Andrea Jenkins and
Emily Brown. The drawings of artist Andrea Jenkins are the result of
her work as the Wildcat Fellow Artist in Residence in Claryville, NY, in
the summer of 2010. Her work, along with the summer 2010 sculpture
work of Emily Brown, explores the relationships between urban and
rural, man-made and natural, fantasy and reality.

An exhibition of paintings,
drawings and photographs, in which local artists explore the joys of
washday! Opens October 3, 2010
Exhibitors include LaVerne Black, Carol Denman, Ann Higgins, Elise
Hornbeck, Kate Hyden, Rose Parrow, Ginger Smith, Gloria Wagenknecht,
Mary Collier, Susan Parrow and Gloria Bernstein.
In
addition to many extraordinary works of art, the 'washer women' art
exhibit will have an interesting added component --- a historical
exhibit on washing clothes! Actual items used through the centuries to
launder clothes, right up to 1950s equipment, will be on display. It's
all on loan from the Time and the Valleys Museum in nearby Grahamsville.
Visitors will gain a sense of just how labor-intensive washing clothes
was in earlier days.
